In response to the March 14 Nor’easter, VTel’s office at 354 River Street has been temporarily approved by Springfield’s Fire Department to operate as a limited-occupancy warming shelter. We are approved to open our doors to the public, starting right now (March 16, 2023) to 8pm tonight, for anyone in need of our facilities for heat, hot water, bathrooms, internet, our small kitchen, and phone chargers. We have been advised that we have a limit of 10 people at a time, so space is limited. We are happy to accommodate any service animals. We don’t have showers or beds to offer, but we do have safe, open spaces to sit, relax, charge your devices, or access our ultra-fast fiber optic Internet service. We will be serving hot coffee and cocoa to anyone needing a pick-me-up 🙂
