Welcome to the web site of the
Springfield Community Band!
The
Springfield Community Band, a 63-year tradition in Springfield, will be
resuming rehearsals for a winter season on Tuesday, January 6,
2009. The band is offering a winter season to provide a local
opportunity for its members to play year-round. While music
worked on during this winter season may show up in the summer concert
folder, the winter season will be treated as an separate event from our
usual summer concert season. We will meet Tuesday evenings in
the Springfield High School Band Room from 7 to 9 pm under the
direction of Fred Belec. The
Springfield Community Band welcomes all musicians, whether you are a
current member, past member, or have thought about dusting off you’re
instrument after a musical hiatus. All of the band members
are there for the joy of making music together and enhancing our
skills, and we encourage new members to come and join us to share the
fun. Players that need help obtaining or restoring
serviceable instruments, or just need additional information and
encouragement, can contact Karen
Bailey (band president) at 802-886-5478.
The Springfield
Community Band for the past 63 years has provided a recreational
and cultural/entertainment outlet to the people of Springfield and
neighboring towns. Our concerts
are a highlight of the summer for many townspeople and usually include
appearances in the annual July 4 celebrations. Our policy
welcomes musicians
young and old to our group, provides a rare opportunity for musical
experience
and personal growth to our members.
